The Bay Guide

The census of the Bay’s food and rooms

Changelog.

Corrections are content: when the census changes, it says so here, plainly.

2026-07-07 — boundary corrected, positions cross-checked

The census is now bounded by a drawn line (what counts as the Bay) instead of postcode districts: 53 premises previously listed are now recorded as outside the Bay — retained, not deleted. Every position was cross-checked against the ONS postcode register: 87 register points disagreed with their own postcode by more than 300 metres and were corrected — including L’Enclume, previously plotted 1.8 km from Cartmel village — and 239 premises with no register point were placed at their postcode centroid. Coverage extended to 486 retail-registered premises (farm shops, tearooms and garden-centre cafés councils file under retail codes); they are held for editorial review and are not auto-listed. Entry pages now cover the Eden mile and the Bay-arc towns — Cartmel, Grange, Ulverston, Arnside among them — and 29 town index pages went live.

2026-07-06 — The Bay Guide launches

The census of the Bay’s food and rooms goes live: every registered premises from Walney to the Wyre, mapped, with the Eden mile listed and every entry unwritten.
